"Me Time"

What to do with "me time?"

We all love it. We all need it. It’s important that we all take time to get it. What’s my favorite way to spend it?

Movies

Going with my sister is preferred, but getting a large group together to see the latest comedy is fun as well. I'm not opposed to seeing a horror flick with a cute boy either ;) Not much to complain about a guy protecting you, huh ladies? I love getting lost in the movie, sitting in a chilly theater. Slurping on a fountain Diet Coke. Mmm, pure bliss.

Reality TV

Specifically So You Think You Can Dance. Kent, ladies? I might be in love.

Discovery Channel and Medical Shows

Life, Planet Earth, Earth, Oceans, love them all. There's something so fascinating about God's creatures. And don't even get me started on Grey's Anatomy or, most recently, Boston Med, this summer's greatest new hit (in my opinion that is). I guess it's a good thing I'm a nursing major.

Trips to Target

Just to wander. But Target is a dangerous place. It’s like there’s a $100 cover charge. Today I went in just to browse through the curtains and home/bathroom decor. I was determined not to buy anything. An hour and a half later I found myself in the women's clothing section. However, I am pleased to say I succeeded in not spending a dime.

But Target is a nice place to unwind! Can I get an amen?

An Alone Trip to Sonic Happy Hour

I love to get some good music in the car and turn up the volume so I can belt it out when I’m alone. I’m not ashamed to belt it when I’m not alone, but it’s fun to just let your inner rockstar take the stage when you’re alone in the car. And just drive on down to Sonic to get a Diet Coke...a LARGE DC. It is Happy Hour afterall :)

Books

I love to read. I’ve realized that it’s such a great way to calm my mind at the end of a busy day – or in the middle of a busy day. My goal is to read 20 books by the end of 2010. So far I have completed less than half, but I'm not too worried.

Not Spending it Alone

A lot times I just enjoy sitting with Hallie catching up on life. It's rather refreshing to hear her talk about the same things I went through only two short years ago.

Driving with the Music Loud and Windows Down

This may be my number one favorite thing to do during "me time." There's nothing like taking a drive through Plano while listening to The Fray, Kings of Leon, and OneRepublic. Or driving South on I-35 early in the morning listening to Hillsong and Shane & Shane with the sun rising in the East. Beautiful.

Take a Nap on the Couch

Preferably curled up next to my dog, Daisy Mae. With Friends playing as a little background noise.

Walks

It's very enjoyable to plug in my iPod and take a stroll or go on a light jog while everyone else is still snoozing. Great way to begin and end the day.

Shopping

Doesn't matter where, what time of day, whether or not I'm alone, I just love to shop. My favorite stores are GAP, J. Crew, and Ann Taylor Loft. Old Navy is great as well, expecially when looking for cheap, cute clothes. The process of browsing through clothes, trying on various styles, and creating new outfits puts me in a peaceful state. It relaxes me.

Antique Shopping

Downtown Belton has quite a few antique shops. It is very fun to look through everything and imagine different, unique ways on how to update certain items.

Home Decor Shopping

Ahh Pottery Barn, how I do love you. I look forward to getting the new catalog every few months, imagining what my future house will look like...hey, a girl can dream, can't she? :)
